It is very easy for falsehoods to be spread throughout the internet, and the beauty industry is no exception. As you are working towards your career in the science of skincare, below are three myths you and your clients should stop believing immediately.

  1. Greasy Foods Cause Acne

Though there are many reasons why you should not eat greasy junk food, acne is not one of them. A poor diet can contribute to skin concerns, but enjoying your favorite fries on a Friday night will not automatically result in zits the next morning. The food group you do want to pay attention to for skin concerns is dairy. Chin and jawline breakouts are often attributed to dairy products. Cutting these products out could help reverse stubborn acne in these areas.

  1. Dry Under Eyes Require the Heaviest Eye Cream

Where you may think the richest eye cream is the answer to your dryness, it may just add to your problems. Thick eye creams often contain mineral oil or petrolatum, which are not easily absorbed. This results in the cream sitting on the surface and potentially getting into your eyes while you sleep. Not only will this not cure your dryness, but it may leave your eyes puffy in the morning as well. Stick with eye creams with moisturizing agents that are lighter and more absorbable.

  1. Retinol is Not For Sensitive Skin

Though those with sensitive skin may not fare well from prescription-strength retinol, over-the-counter products are not as strong. It may take some trial and error to find the formula that works with your complexion, but those with sensitive skin can still reap the benefits of retinol products.
